 Galatians 6:7-10 (HCSB)
7 Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap,
8 because the one who sows to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
9 So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.
10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, we must work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.

Do you get tired of making the right choice when it seems that the adversary is always the winner?  Do you tire of doing good - for Believers and the Lost?  Do you feel that no one appreciates your efforts?  Do you feel that your efforts are ridiculed or scorned?

You are in good company.  Jesus’ good deeds were especially criticized by the household of faith.  Paul was accused of doing things for money – and he wasn’t even being paid.  Others were ridiculed, persecuted, shunned, mocked, and even killed.

Jesus grew weary:

Mark 9:19 (HCSB)
19 He replied to them, “You unbelieving generation! How long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to Me.”

Does it seem that everyone notices when you are wrong but no one notices when you are right?  Do you teach and show kindness but it doesn’t seem that your students are learning anything at all?  Jesus understands.

Why did Jesus continue to make the right choices?  Remember He was a man just like we are and was tempted in every way.

The father said, “…have compassion on us and help us.” Mark 9:22b

Jesus was always compassionate.  The word literally means a “moving of the bowels.”  Have you ever felt so grieved at someone’s condition that you felt a physical response to their pain?  That is compassion.  Have you ever been moved to tears by another’s sorrows?  That is compassion.  It is recorded many times that Jesus had compassion – on lepers, on the crowds, on sick people, on outcasts (woman at the well)…

Isn’t compassion what moves us to act on behalf of another – Believer or unbeliever?

Paul was a man well acquainted with persecution and rejection by the “household of faith,” the church – as well as those who scorned the name of Christ.  Yet, Paul, tells us not to grow tired of doing good.  He tells us, under the inspiration of the Spirit, to especially do good for those who are Believers.

Jesus washed the feet of the one who would betray Him.  He offered healing – spiritual and physical – to the ones who would shout, “Crucify Him!  Crucify Him!”  He suffered loneliness, persecution, sorrow, and even anger at people’s hard hearts.  However, He continued to be the Servant.  He, Who could have called ten thousand angels; He, Who was God in the flesh continued to serve and love and do good deeds.

So, weary Believer, Beautiful Child of God, carry on!  Do not give up the good fight!  Arm yourself for battle in the Lord!  Pray and Praise and Study!  But carry on!  You are already victorious!  You, who have been offered Godly forgiveness and grace, can afford to do good deeds to all men; for in due time you will reap if you continue to sow to the Spirit.

**Lord Jesus, I am weary; You understand.  I am hurt; You understand.  I feel like quitting; You understand.  Strengthen me.  Help me to carry on, to fight the good fight, to finish well, to win the race, to be a Believer who never gave up.  So that when I enter Heaven, I can hear You say, “Well done, Good and Faithful Servant.”  Thank You for the opportunity to Serve You.  Help me to remember that my good deeds are not done for men but for You.  Amen.
