     Rejection  VS  Acceptance

Opportunities for Jesus

Luke 21:12-15 (New Living Translation)

12 “But before all this occurs, there will be a time of great persecution. You will be dragged into synagogues and prisons, and you will stand trial before kings and governors because you are my followers. 13 But this will be your opportunity to tell them about me. 14 So don’t worry in advance about how to answer the charges against you, 15 for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!

Jesus told the Disciples that if they were His followers they would be “dragged” places they did not want to be; but this would be their “opportunity to tell…about” Him.

When we have ill-timed and inconvenient circumstances, do we view the circumstance as an opportunity to tell others about Jesus – either verbally or through our actions – or do we balk, fuss, and behave in unchristian ways to express our displeasure.

A friend of mine has had to go to live in a nursing home in order to receive treatment for a physical condition that has the possibility of taking her life.  She is a young woman.  Bitterness?  No.  Her first response was that maybe God has someone there to whom she can minister.  She has been there over a week and her attitude is still the same.

We have a choice when life becomes difficult.  We can live for Jesus and look for opportunities to serve Him.  Or… We can balk and become bitter over the unfairness of our situation.

The choice is ours.  What will we do?

***Lord Jesus…
